A bright and composed washed Bourbon from Nyamasheke
Rwanda Nyabumera
This coffee comes from Nyabumera Site 807B in Rwanda’s Nyamasheke District, a washing station serving a large network of smallholder farmers across the surrounding hills. Positioned at the entrance of a valley in the Mahembe sector, the site gathers cherries from over a thousand producers, each contributing to a shared expression of the region.
Recently revitalized under new ownership, the station has undergone careful restoration and renewed focus on quality. With expanded training programs and improvements to processing infrastructure, Nyabumera represents both continuity and forward momentum in Rwandan coffee production.

Red Bourbon
Red Bourbon is the foundation of Rwanda’s specialty coffee identity. At elevation, it produces cups that are structured, sweet, and fruit-forward, often defined by clarity and balance rather than intensity.
Process
Washed
- [Harvest] Ripe cherries selectively picked by smallholder farmers.
- [Collected] Delivered through local collection points or by hand to the station.
- [Depulped] Processed shortly after arrival.
- [Fermentation] Traditional wet fermentation to remove mucilage.
- [Washed] Clean washing to refine clarity and structure.
- [Drying] Dried on raised beds until stable moisture is reached.
The Cup
The cup opens with ripe mango and bright citrus, supported by a clean, sugar-like sweetness. As it develops, the profile remains composed and balanced, with a light, structured finish that emphasizes clarity over weight.

FAQs
What is your roasting and production schedule?
We roast to order every Wednesday, processing all orders placed before 9:00 AM PST that day. Once roasted, orders are packed and shipped by the end of Thursday.
Retail orders placed after the Wednesday morning cutoff are usually roasted the following week. However, we often roast extra to cushion in your regular orders, so if your coffee is available, it may still ship in the week!
Grinding Schedule: All ground coffee is ground to order just before shipping, so you can be assured your coffee has arrived as fresh as possible.
