Two rare Yemeni coffees—one origin, one return
Mother & Daughter — Yemen Box Set (2 × 8oz)
Mother & Daughter brings together two of the most extraordinary coffees produced in Yemen today—one from the newly discovered Yemenia mother population, and one from the Kent lineage whose genetic roots trace back to Yemen after centuries abroad. Both lots come from women-led collectives farming at extreme elevations in neighboring regions, grown through Qima Coffee’s Nano Lot & Farmer Series. This is a limited, single-run box set of two 8oz (227g) bags.

The coffee known as Yemenia represents one of the most important discoveries in the modern history of coffee genetics—a newly identified mother population of Arabic coffee found only in Yemen. In the remote highlands of Hejrat Al-Ain, a collective of women farmers cultivates these ancient trees on steep terraced slopes, often relying on coffee for nearly their entire household income. Their work preserves a lineage untouched by global dispersion, producing cups with dense red fruit, syrupy sweetness, and deep historical gravity.
Yemenia
Yemenia is a rare genetic group discovered in 2020 through Qima’s coffee genome research. Expressive, concentrated, and structurally unique, it offers a profile unlike any other Arabica lineage—ripe berries, stewed fruit, and a layered sweetness found only in Yemen’s high-altitude terraces.

Aspects | Nano Lot · Heritage Lineage
Weight | 8oz / 227g
The women of Bani Ofair cultivate terraces in one of Yemen’s most rugged highland districts, tending varieties whose origins trace back to Yemen’s ancient coffee migration routes. Kent is a historic cultivar whose genetic roots lead back to Yemen’s Typica-Bourbon population—exported centuries ago through Mokha and Aden, renamed abroad, and now re-cultivated in the land of its ancestors. This lot expresses stone fruit, citrus brightness, and a refined, tea-like finish.
Kent
First identified in India in the 1920s, Kent gained global recognition for its cup quality and rust resistance. Genetic research confirms its lineage traces back to Yemen’s Typica-Bourbon line. In Bani Ofair’s high-altitude microclimate, Kent becomes luminous—peach-forward, citrus-sweet, and delicately floral. (Source: Kent lineage history, Al Ofairi PDF) 0
